ACCESS Mental Health: Development of Audio/Visual Materials about Autism
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to develop a video series, audio interviews, and handouts to help parents and families learn about autism.
Who will these materials be for? These materials will be made freely available online to all families in English and Spanish.
Who can help? Reach out if you would like to contribute to these materials, such as if you have stories or insights to share with other families, or if you have experience creating handouts, podcasts, or videos. Spanish-speaking and English-speaking volunteers are welcome.
Who is funding this work? We started this project through the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities at UNC Chapel Hill, based on a small grant from the Department of Psychiatry called the ACCESS Mental Health grant. Currently, the project is running on volunteer power!
*Award winning! A presentation about this project received a “Centennial Session” special recognition at the 2025 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention for having a significant impact in the field
